case study · D5 Square (formerly Democracy 5.0)

Power to every voice.

D5 Square is a digital assembly where people start votes, share ideas and shape the communities they live in, with every vote secured by blockchain. As cofounder and Creative Director, I’ve built its brand from the first word.

the challenge

Make democracy tech feel like a town square.

Blockchain, DAOs, digital democracy: big, abstract ideas that most people scroll straight past. D5 Square needed to feel less like a crypto project and more like a place you’d want to walk into. Warm, open, and easy to join, whether or not you know what a blockchain is.

the idea

One raised hand, two languages, one friendly guide.

the line

Power to every voice.

A promise simple enough to fit on a sticker, and big enough to carry the whole platform.

ENPower to every voice.
TRSesini duyur, gücünü göster!literally: “Make your voice heard, show your power!”

Not a translation: the Turkish line turns the promise into a call to action.

the symbol

A raised hand inside the D.

The oldest gesture in any assembly: asking to speak, and casting a vote. It works as an app icon, a sticker and a rallying sign.

the guide

Meet Dimo.

A mascot built to do a job: turn “so how does blockchain work?” into a friendly chat. Dimo opens the conversation, explains the hard parts and stays with people as they find their way around.

“Selam! Ben Dimo. Democracy 5.0’da hep yanındayım.”“Hi! I’m Dimo. I’m always by your side at Democracy 5.0.”

the launch

A grid that tells the story, bottom up.

The Democracy 5.0 launch grid on Instagram: logo, slogan and Dimo posts above three panoramic rows

D5 Square launched as Democracy 5.0, with a grid built to be read as a whole. Three panoramic rows set out the argument, one question each, and the posts above them bring in the brand, the slogan and Dimo.

  1. 1
Durum ne?What’s happening? Representative democracy is at a bottleneck, and people feel unheard.
  2. 2
Çözüm ne?What are we doing? Using technology to build an independent digital assembly that can’t be manipulated.
  3. 3
Hedef ne?What will change? A decentralized, people-first way to decide things together.

what I did
